Bright, smooth, compact, light-weight, inexpensive. [UPDATED] – This tiny light is almost perfect. The newer model’s diffuser layer produces a very smooth medium-wide wash of white light with good CRI (I haven’t confirmed the spectrum, but it seems to render color well so far). The little cold shoe attaches easily and locks / unlocks with one finger. The buttons that control brightness and display battery level are an unusual design, but easy to figure out after a few minutes experimenting with them — and they make good use of three widely spaced buttons that are workable with gloves on. [UPDATE: The CRI or color accuracy of this white light is surprisingly good. Much purer white than a lot of LED light bulbs and LED tube lights.]

Simply awesome. – Cool, sleek look. Several brightness options. I love that it has three places for other attachments (like a microphone, additional lighting, etc). Great buy. A little pricier than what I wanted to spend, but definitely worth the extra money.

Super bright! – Battery life is great. When I am using it attached to my camera/tripod because I’m able to turn it off and on in between pictures… However when I’m using it for reading, I do wish the battery life would last a little bit longer

Great until it wasn’t *EDITED – This product worked great for me but after only a few uses, it completely stopped working. It started flickering and not it won’t even turn on.

Super bright! – Battery life is great. When I am using it attached to my camera/tripod because I’m able to turn it off and on in between pictures… However when I’m using it for reading, I do wish the battery life would last a little bit longer

Small, inexpensive, and great for multiple uses. – Don’t confuse this VL49 with the RGB version (I did, my own fault). This is bright white warm white, or a mix of both. Button functionality could be more obvious. And if you clip two together, they point in slightly different directions (maybe 10 degrees apart). But I’ve used this on camera, and as a separate light for taking pictures of photographs so that the reflection isn’t in the photo.
