lots of calibration/adjustment features for the advanced user looking to customize their camera – this 960H analog PTZ camera is excellent – they will give you the “code” to adjust/calibrate the camera settings to your specifications – i recommend turning off the “sharpness”, the images are too “rough” around the edges with it turned on – i also recommend turning off the 2D noise reduction as it just “blurs” the image – if the noise reduction was 3D, it would be much better – this camera also has a “sense-up” feature from 2x to 30x but be aware that you will not be able to adjust the camera settings if “sense-up” is currently being used at 10x or more in a dark environment (without the IR LED’s) because the CPU will be utilized at maximum – the camera also has a “DPC” setting (defect pixel correction) that can be adjusted to remove stuck-on or stuck-off pixels but i prefer not to use this setting since it does affect the fine outline detail of some viewed objects in the daytime, it can be adjusted for threshold but if the amount of faulty pixels is very low and not interfering with the view, theres no reason to use it – the neat feature of this camera is the “defog” setting which will automatically adjust the contrast and brightness to try and improve the view in the event of a bright “washout” of light or poor contrast in the dark, this also can be adjusted to your specifications, i dont currently use this feature since i prefer to have a “vanilla” image – sample rate for sense-up is much faster than the models 5 years prior likely due to increased CPU speed and memory – i prefer not to use the built in IR LED’s, instead, i have several solar flood lamps i modified with IR LED’s placed all around the viewing areas for specific spots i want lit up, this suits the capture at night much better rather than throwing a flood of IR in the same direction as the camera direction itself

Great in the day,, cuts off at night – Great camera that only works until nighttime. After night vision kicks in you can’t use the PTZ function. If you try, the power drain exceeds the capacity of this little cam and it shuts down entirely. Once that happens is starts to make a high-pitched whine that’s really annoying . You can fix it if you point a bright flashlight into the camera for a few seconds until the night vision clicks off. That lowers the power drain and gives it enough power to reestablish the video connection. I use a 100ft rs485 power cord which apparently is little too far into the red-zone for this.

This Camera More Than Doubled the Usefulness of My Surveillance System – I had a spare surveillance system lying around for quite some time to have as a spare in case my present one decided to die on me. The old DVR could only handle four cameras while the replacement can handle eight. This was my excuse to add more cameras to surveille our school’s maintenance building and its surroundings. We had added a new gas tank and found out shortly after that some gasoline was already “borrowed”.

Night vision affects mobility – When you cut on the night vision the camera loses mobility and all presets .but the picture is good and you have to shut off the presets before you turn on the night vision or else the camera will lose all presets and mobility .Every Sunba camera i have bought has this same problem .The night vision destroys the presets and in one case shut the camera completely off and i had to wait for daylight for it to shut off the night vision before i could reset the camera

Fantastic camera! But everyone needs to know… – I was about to return this camera because it had lines in the picture and it would not pan or tilt after dark. Come to find out it’s not the camera’s fault. Due to the power demand of the PTZ plus the high power IR LEDs it CAN NOT get enough power thru a standard video/power cable. The 2 power leads in the cable are only 21ga and just can’t do it. One solution is to put the AC adapter near the camera (extension cord?). Another way is to run a 2 conductor, 18 ga wire from the AC adapter to the camera. The problem is not the size of the AC adapter but the undersized power leads in a video cable. So far I have not been able to find a video/power cable that has 18 ga power leads. I am impressed with the camera and especially the night vision. And I do not impress easily. BTW fixing the power problem also fixed the problem with lings in the picture.
