We’ve now ordered a dozen of these! – Over the course of the last 9 or 10 months since we bought the first TLC200, our company has bought several of these, usually in sets of 2, 3, or 4, for our multiple plant locations, where we use them for Lean Principle timelapse studies of our production. I operate 3 for the local branch. The plants are exposed to the elements, rugged, dusty places, and these cameras have no problem being out in the action. I haven’t experienced any issue with the weatherproofing and no issues with the cameras themselves. There is a newer model out this year that is 1080p HD (these are 720p) and supports more than 32GB (these only support SDHC, newer ones are SDXC) and can be adjusted to not record on weekends or non-production days. The new model is still double the price, so the TLC200 is still highly recommended. We’re seeing about 7+ days of recording time on a 32GB card when snapping at 5 second intervals – it is scene dependent, watching paint dry would take less data than timelapsing your garden. The FOV is plenty wide too, which is nice, and the case has mounting points to attach additional accessories too if you wanted (eg. telescoping lens). The camera does not include a microphone in case you need to be concerned with wiretapping laws in your state or jurisdiction.

I was a bit apprehensive given some of the reviews, as I am a bit of a techno snob when it comes to quality and user experience . I tried to research other options using gopro camera setups, etc…but I was short on time, and I was drawn not only by the price point but also by the fact that this was essentially ready-to-go out of the box for outdoor use. Also, the stated battery life was a huge plus…while I could run power to the camera theoretically, it was another aspect I was short on time to evaluate. At $300 for the kit and enclosure, and given my limitations, it seemed to be about the best thing going.

This is awesome, does exactly what it says it does. – I bought this to monitor a construction site, it’s one of the easiest tech products to set up, ever. Works out of the box, menu options are clear and easy to use, battery life is awesome. After a summer of construction we’ve left the camera up for the winter taking only a few pictures a day – we’re hoping it will record the whole of winter from inside our cabin!
