Low FPS and i-frame interval insufficient for motion detection – At the native 4k resolution, the minimum i-frame interval is fixed at every 20 frames while the maximum fps the camera can deliver is capped at 12fps, meaning that at best you’ll receive an i-frame (required for nvr and camera management systems like Blue Iris to correctly detect motion) every two seconds. In practice, the camera was delivering 8-12fps and the i-frame was arriving every 5 seconds or so, meaning motion would have to persist for more than 5 seconds in the camera’s field-of-vision to be detected.

Decent Camera – Pretty good performance out of the box. The plastic housing and mount are underwhelming. Took some research to get it to cooperate with Blue Iris, but it definitely will.

C800 Update – Image quality is great. No face recognition or license plate reading but none of the other cameras will do that either (unless you spend an awful lot of money). I had some difficulties with installation. Light is supposed to rotate in mounting bracket but fit was way too tight; almost impossible to adjust. Had to dissemble and tweak to make it work.

Hikvision device – As you can see In the pics I posted it’s a hikvision device. The pic quality from the cam is great. The mobile app can be a pain. Not a bad device overall

color at night, under the right light. – Took the chance and order this C800 as a replacement for another brand that was no longer supported. After receiving it, I was surprised at the quality of the build. The setup was straight forward using a POE switch, then locked down the IP address. I have decided to leave it at the factory settings for a few weeks as a test. The only thing I did was enable nighttime color so I disabled the IR. I use Blue Iris so the rest of my setup was flawless. I have 9 cameras, and the CPU load hovers between 35 to 45 % on my PC. All the included accessories to mount this camera is included and it took all of 5 minutes, system setup was around 30 minutes . The color is deep and accurate, and color night view is superb. motion alerting is spot on and so far I’m pleased with this turret camera.

Not all what YouTube reviews says – The camera is mediocre not cutting edge and seems like it does not play fairly with other onvif compatible nvr

Value carries the day, but definitely a mixed bag of pros and cons – Like most inexpensive cameras, night-time images are so-so, but it really seems that for sharp night performance one has to spend about 4-5 times what these sell for. The housing is sturdy, but not exactly bomb-proof – the “ball” is metal, but the mounting base is plastic. Capture of sound is pretty clear and strong (seems like a decent mic). The cord gets in the way of pivoting the ball in the mount freely, so you may find that the camera cannot quite be pivoted to the position you’d like. Great camera for “easy” spots around my property, but I will probably have to pry open my wallet and get some better ones for the demanding locations that would benefit from better night vision and ability to zoom the lens (this one doesn’t.)
